Walk The Moon Michael Jackson
25th
June

On June 25th 2009 Michael Jackson is pronounced dead at UCLA hospital- the internet hasn't been this focused on a singular topic since the Obama election- YouTube is crashing my browser, every status update on Facebook has to do with MJ, and every trending topic on Twitter is about the King of Pops' unexpected demise. If this is not proof of the publics love and adoration- nothing is. In addition to The Beatles, no one has single handedly impacted pop culture as much as MJ did.

I loved everything about Michael Jackson when I was kid. I wanted to learn to dance like him. I listened to BAD until the tape wore out. I was more excited to see Moonwalker than any other movie I can remember. When I went to Disneyland for my 10th birthday all I wanted to do was watch Captain EO

When the 2002 TV Documentary made MJ look like a child molester, I was offended by the pompous arrogance of the British interviewer. All of the trials and bad press seemed like a bunch of bull. Michael was awesome, a one-of-a-kind performer with a gift, an extraordinary human, a true artist, a visionary, and a creator.

For those of you who never saw Moonwalker as a kid, I highly suggest watching all 12 parts of it on YouTube to honor MJ's life and contribution to world, it's a solid retrospective of his life story as told through through his own eyes- and it's theatrical and entertaining.

This opening scene from Moonwalker features an amazing montage from numerous live concert versions of "Man In The Mirror."

"I maybe be a little fella, but my heart is as big as Texas. I have all the love a man can give and maybe a little bit extra" ~Michael Jackson

Ice Cream Fest At Junior Abassadors
2nd
June

Posted by Salvation Is A Pop Song on Jun 02, 2009 in Salvation

Junior Ambassadors is that awesome little orange food cart on the grassy lot across the street from The Albina Press in North Portland. Best known for making outstanding ice cream in very bizarre flavors- my favorite is the Gingersnap & Basil or the Maple & Bacon. Don't let the unusual flavor combos scare you- they are all extremely delicious. How delicious? Well, delicious enough to win the best food cart award at the WW's Eat Mobile 2009 food cart festival a couple months ago.

Rudy, the madcap chef and purveyor of Jr. Ambassadors, asked me to put on a summer time  show. Come sprawl out on the grassy hill and listen to some rad tunes and eat some delicious ice cream.

w/ spare tire on the back and a big vinyl "Tender Loving Empire" sticker on the back right window"

License Plate: OREGON- RVJ-507

There are things in life that happen that really suck! Getting a car stolen is one of those things. There are really good people in the world and sometimes really bad things like this happen to really good people. This is one of those times. Jared Mees is an awesome person and Tender Loving Empire is an awesome company. Please forward and share this blog as much as possible to help recover Jared's van.

If you've seen the above van or something that looks like it could have once been this van (no license plate, etc...), please call 503.243.5859

Sincerely, Brennan
